Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary india - There is a very faint difference
between ornithology and bird watching that we fail to understand and because
of which we avoid taking up bird-watching as a hobby, though we might be
interested in it. We, at Vacations India understand the difference and
accordingly encourage people to take up bird watching with us. A very simple
and interesting activity, bird watching is merely the field observation of
the birds whereas Ornithology means the detailed study of the birds. The
publication of a book called "the Book of Indian Birds" by Dr
Salim Ali, affectionately called the father of Indian Ornithology, created
an interest among the Indians about birds and bird watching. Different
people are interested in birds for different reasons. Some are attracted by
the colourful feathers whereas others might be attracted because of their
peculiar sound. Whatever the reason, it is an enlightening and enthusiastic
breather from the routine life.
Bird Sanctuary - Keoladeo Park
Now that you are ready for some
exclusive bird watching with Vacations India, allow us to take you to a very
special sanctuary, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park ... one of the most
gifted water bird sanctuaries of the world. Widely known as Bharatpur bird
Sanctuary, this
wetland, although popular, is not natural. By building a dyke here, a dam
there and by diverting water from a canal, the king managed to create the
new wetland. Only half the land is a wetland, rest of them are either
woodland, pasture or other areas. Now over 300 species of birds are found
here and the nature of the sanctuary is such that it makes the viewing of
the birds very easy. The most eagerly awaited guests of this sanctuary are
the Siberian cranes who fly over 6000 km to reach here. This is their home
during the winters. As we said earlier, you don't need any special training
for bird watching, all you need is active interest in the field. It only
requires personal interest and loads of patience. When you are starting bird
watching all you need is the ability to know the common birds of your
locality like you know the back of your hand. Observe them keenly and you've
already started off well. Then comes the practice to recognize a species
correctly which if continued can turn you into a good experienced bird
watcher. If possible, one should accompany an experienced bird-watcher to
master this art. That's why we hire experts to accompany you in the field
while you go bird watching. When you set off to acquire the basics of bird
watching, you must have three things with you; a binocular, an experienced
bird-watching guide and a notebook with pen (so that you can note down
whatever you have noticed).
