Vacations India is a professionally managed organisation that leads and makes the way while you enjoy your Wildlife Travel India. Our wildlife tour packages and programmes are spread across all over India keeping the spotlight on your special needs. Now that we've talked about ourselves a bit, let's talk about wildlife once again ... because that is where our interests converge.

Why are some animals endangered
Wildlife Tours of India - The very things that make an animal beautiful or invaluable make them vulnerable to poachers ... such as the ivory tusks of the elephant that look so beautiful in its body are much in demand in Japan and China. The rhinoceros is killed for its horn which is nothing but a compact mass of hair which has an enormous commercial value. The tigers are hunted for their skins and bones which are known for their healing powers. We often tend to be very simplistic about all this and hold the poachers responsible directly for all that is happening to these hapless animals. We forget our responsibility as buyers who are the ultimate cause for the killing of these animals.

Future Scenario
Well, no sugar coated statements here. We can't be very hopeful about the future of these threatened animals. Although some steps have been taken by the government to protect these species. Bharatpur National Park, India's first wildlife sanctuary was established towards the close of the last century however the first National Park came into being only in 1936 with the setting up of the Hailey National Park in Uttar Pradesh which underwent several name changes and at present it is called Corbett National Park. The Government of India have enacted a detailed legislation in 1972 called the Wildlife (Protection) Act for providing legal protection to the wildlife and to the endangered species of fauna in particular, as the protection of wild animals and birds and their habitat assumed national importance.

Some of the National Parks have been created specifically to save the endangered species, such as Dachigam sanctuary for the Kashmir stag, Gir National Park for the Asiatic lion, Kaziranga National Park for the single horned Rhinoceros, Velavadar National Park and Point Calimer for the Black buck and special Tiger reserves. If we are really interested in saving the endangered species, we need to strike a balance between the wildlife and tourism.

Why do we combine vacations and Indian wildlife?

Well ... we don't. You do. There is a demand for it and we are the suppliers. People enjoy taking a break from their mundane routines and love being in the wilds. But for our ecology, this is a God sent opportunity to educate and entertain us at the same time. Let's treat this time spent as an investment for our future generations. Definitely, it is a good omen for our environment.
